Unfair for TNB to ask for higher deposit

I agree with this writer in the Star newspaper.

Unfair for TNB to ask for higher deposit

RECENTLY, after the Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) increased tariffs for electricy usage, our monthly bills almost doubled.

Hence, TNB is directing customers to double their deposits in view of the higher monthly charges for energy usage.

I really feel this sudden imposition of higher deposit is unfair to customers who are already struggling with higher costs of living expenses.

I just want some clarification from TNB, did our previous deposit with them for the past 23 years or more earn any income for the utility company? Or are they rolling this interest earned from customers’ deposit for their other businesses?

If so, it is TNB who should pay us our dividends at regular intervals, say seven or 10 years, rather than ask us to increase our deposits.

I hope the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry, Energy Commission and TNB can clarify this issue of additional deposit which is a burden to the average man.
