Dear Dr. Ko Ko Gyi,
I accidently read about my father written in your blog. My I correct a mistake. My maternal grandmother Daw Aye Khin was the eldest sister of Daw Htwe, your grandpa’s wife.So my father was not the brother in law of U Pyaw.He was his niece’s ( my mom Daw Kyi Kyi) husband.So he was U Pyaw’s nephew.

Famous boxer Kyar (Tiger) Ba Nyein was the Brother-in-law of my Grandfather U Pyaw. Actually U Pyaw was the eldest brother of my maternal grand mother Daw Kyawt. After my parents bought their house at No. 158, 30th. street, between 82nd. and 83rd. street, U Pyaw and family shifter to a rented house on 83rd. street between 29th.& 30th. street. They later stayed in a house in 31st. street, between 82nd & 83rd. street near Myo Gone Yong Cinema. Thy stayed at the ground floor of the two storey house. And Kyar  Ba Nyein, his brother-in-law and family lived upstairs.

We used to that house regularly especially at weekends and school holidays to learn Quran reading from our grandpa U Pyaw. Now I regret that we never get a chance to befriend with Kyar  Ba Nyein’s family just staying upstairs. Now U Pyaw and Kyar  Ba Nyein passed away. May Allah bless their souls and reserve a place in paridise for them. I heard that my aunt (my mother’s cousin. Note: my mother is the only child of my grandma.) Ma Aye is staying with U Win Nyein’s family. (Son of Kyar  Ba Nyein)

Kyar (Tiger) Ba Nyein was also a very prominent Myanmar Muslim. He was known to be a great boxer, and had even represented Burma in the Olympics. He had successfully trained a lot of boxers. And he had rejuvenated the Myanmar traditional boxing. He was a famous writer also.

His son U Win Nyein is also a prominent Journalist. U Chit Nyo, brother of Kyar Ba Nyein is also a famous writer. Myo  pre=”Myo “>Myint Nyein was the editor of Payphuhlwar, a former monthly magazine in Burma. Awarded the International Press Freedom Award in absentia by the Toronto-based Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE). He is the brother of Win Nyein.
