Congratulations Muhammad Danial Zuraidi for_

  1. becoming the chairman of California UMNO  Club
  2. being chosen as the representative to attend the UMNO general assembly
  3. and for the speech at the International Forum, being held in conjunction with the UMNO  general assembly.

Thank you for remembering me and came to my clinic, with your mother, to just say hallo.

I missed you and asked about your studies and work every time when one of your family members came to the clinic. Your parents: Dr. Zuraidi Ishak, Puan Yusyati and younger brother Danish are still coming to our clinic if they are not feeling well.

You were just 13 yr old teenage boy when I first met you. Your brother was few yrs younger than you and used to play around joking, in and out of the room. Your younger brother was a little bit plump and naughty at that time. Even the nurse at the registration countre came into my room and warned me to be careful about him. But once we met, you and your younger became very friendly and we liked each other. I think because of that your parents also became friends. Now even your brother has grown up like a gentle handsome young boy. Because of the regular exercises at the Gym and proper diet now he is thin and tall. Because your parents had taken trouble to give a very good private education to both of you, no wonder both of you could communicate well with others, polite and intelligent.

I remember one incidence when your father was busy, sent you to Johore to shoot video documentary about Malay culture and dances which was shown on RTM. I wish to see your life in USA and searched on the Internet but no luck yet.

You made your parents proud. Although they are rich, their faces were bright with joy when they told me that you had sent USD one thousand check (because you are in US, I just write the way you are used to) and when you sent the air tickets for your mother to visit you. (Sorry for the unfortunate incidence about your father’s health at that time leading me to force your mother to cancel the trip.)

Please do not ruin your mother’s dream for your future. Not nice to write in the blog. She had even invited me, if….

Now, allow me to PROUDLY copy the news reports about your speech there at PWTC.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported about calls by Umno Overseas Club urging party leaders to make greater efforts to explain to students and Malaysians overseas the actual meaning of 1Malaysia.

California Umno Club chairman Muhammad Danial Zuraidi said although there were briefings on the concept given to club leaders, none was organised for other Malaysians abroad.

Moscow Umno Club chairman Muhammad Akmal Salleh said such explanations would ensure that the concept would not be misinterpreted.

He said Malaysians residing overseas obtained most of the information on government policies, including the 1Malaysia concept, through the Internet, where their validity could be disputed.

“Actually, many of our own members and Malaysian nationals living abroad still do not understand the 1Malaysia concept, so I hope the Government or Umno can explain what is actually happening in Malaysia,” he said.

Listen to the people, former Japanese minister tells Barisan

Umno and Barisan Nasional will collapse if they put party interest before that of the people, said Yale University senior fellow Kotaro Tamura.

Tamura said Umno should take heed of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan’s fall from grace last year, after being in power for half a century.

Like Umno, LDP enjoyed a landslide victory several years ago.

But, it suffered massive defeat in last year’s election,” he said at the international forum on “The Creation of Global Citizen: Media Liberalisation And The New Political Realities” yesterday in conjunction with the Umno General Assembly.

Tamura, a former LDP minister, said the party became too arrogant after the landslide victory in 2004.

There were a lot of signals from the ground reflecting public unhappiness over certain policies.

“People were anxious because the economy remained stagnant for two decades. But the party did not address the concerns,” he said.

The regime change last year posed a painful lesson for LDP, said Tamura who later joined the Democratic Party of Japan. Similarly, people in Malaysia had expressed their dissatisfaction in the 2008 general election. The future of Umno is at stake if it did not address the root causes of the people’s frustration, he said. Bernama

Umno leaders should meet Malaysian nationals abroad to explain 1Malaysia concept

 2010-10-18 16:36

KUALA LUMPUR, Monday 18 October 2010 (Bernama) — Umno leaders should give briefings on the 1Malaysia concept to Malaysians whenever they go abroad so that the concept would not be misinterpreted, said the chairman of the Moscow Umno Club, Muhammad Akmal Saleh.

He said Malaysians residing overseas obtained most of the information on government policies including the 1Malaysia concept through the internet, where their validity could be disputed.

“Actually, many of our own members and Malaysian nationals living abroad still do not understand the 1Malaysia concept, so I hope the government or Umno can explain what is actually happening in Malaysia,” he said when met by Bernama today, while attending the International Forum at the Putra World Trade Centre, here.

The International Forum, officiated by the Deputy Prime Minister, who is also Umno deputy president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, was being held in conjunction with the Umno general assembly.

Meanwhile, California Umno Club chairman Muhammad Danial Zuraidi said although there were briefings on the 1Malaysia concept given to club leaders, such briefings should also be given to other Malaysians abroad.

Muhammad Danial, who is studying at the California State University, Los Angeles, said the role of the Umno Overseas Club should also be emphasised where it could assist in reminding Malaysians residing overseas to return and work in Malaysia.

The Indonesian Umno Club Liaison secretary, Rizal Abd Rahman, said there was actually a need for Umno leaders to go abroad to give the latest inputs on the party and country besides focusing on efforts to strengthen the party.

He also said that Umno needed an icon from the younger generation to attract more youths, whether within or outside the country, to join the party.

The chairman of the Lancaster-Morecambe Umno Club, Mohammad Iqmal Mohd Zambri, 30, said traditional media practitioners, such as those from the TV and radio stations, and the press should be more open and transparent in disseminating information to the public to compete with the new generation media whose reports were more aggressive and becoming more popular.

He said although the new media, which were using platforms such as the Facebook, Twitter and Blog, were perceived to be disseminating information in an open manner without considering the implications, the old media were still respected.

“It cannot be denied that the liberal media is good, but we must control the contents of the news that we want to disseminate so as not to create uneasiness among the community,” he told Bernama after attending the international forum on ‘The Creation of Global Citizen: Media Liberalisation And New Political Realities’, here today.

Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad also delivered a keynote address at the forum.
