Some girls who upgraded their destination from 5 Cs to 5 Bs could accidently landed in the men with 5 As

5 Cs = cash, condominium, car, credit card, country club are old hat.

5 Bs = billions, Benz, brains, body and bungalow

Instead of that some landed into the hands of husbands with 5 As = Arrogant, Aged, Angry, Autocrat and Annoyed with the 15 yr old Antique car

As for 4.0, it could mean different things to different people, including four wives, four kids or getting married at 40.

KUALA LUMPUR: The five “Cs” cash, condominium, car, credit card, country club are old hat. Malaysian youth today are all about the five “Bs” billions, Benz, brains, body and bungalow in a partner.

Inspirational trainer Chew Hoong Ling, who will be speaking at youth forum Kahwin 4.0 this Saturday, said demand for quality partners from both sexes had increased in tandem with modern times.

“You might want a (Mercedes) Benz or Bentley but get a partner who drives a 15-year-old car. Instead of just a career and cash, you want your partner to have billions,” she joked when interviewed yesterday.

On a serious note, she said these five “Bs” did not guarantee a happy marriage as they were merely materialistic demands.

Fellow speaker, memory master Lim Teck Hoe, said the forum sought to engage and interact with young adults aged between 25 and 30.

On the forum’s quirky name, he said the word kahwin was a metaphor that applied to all aspects of an individual’s life and goes beyond the institution of marriage.

“As for 4.0, it could mean different things to different people, including four wives, four kids or getting married at 40,” said Lim, who will conduct the first session entitled “Who wears the sarong in the house?”

He said the forum would also discuss a host of social issues and trends affecting young adults including economic and financial matters.

Organised by the Institute of Strategic Analysis and Policy Research (Insap), the forum also features Malaysian TV personality Baki Zainal and special guests Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong and Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Chua Tee Yong.

Kahwin 4.0 will be held at Wisma MCA in Kuala Lumpur this Saturday.

Admission is free and those interested can email kahwin4.0@gmail.com or visit www.facebook.com/kahwin4.0.

It will be conducted mainly in Mandarin and Cantonese with a mix of English and Bahasa Malaysia as well.

An iPad2 will be given away as a lucky draw prize for those who register on the Facebook page before noon this Friday.

The A’s ace it in marriage By ISABELLE LAI

KUALA LUMPUR: First, there was the five C’s and then the five B’s, but for many young Malaysian adults, they seek the five “A’s” in a relationship as well affection, appreciation, ambition, acceptance and attitude.

To them, the five “B’s” billions, Benz, brains, body and bungalow – or the C’s credit card, condo, cash, car and club membership are not the main criteria in seeking a partner.

Views expressed at the Kahwin 4.0 youth forum yesterday showed that there was priority for the five “A’s”.

Inspirational speaker Chew Hoong Ling, who introduced the five A’s concept, said it took more than material demands to make a successful and happy marriage.

Talking about the ABCs: Lim (right) interacting with the crowd during the Kahwin 4.0 youth forum at Wisma MCA yesterday.

“The audience was great. The forum revealed that young people are actually not that materialistic, with many believing that a positive attitude towards life was more important than just being rich,” she said after conducting her session with guest speaker, MCA Youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong.

Other speakers included memory master Lim Teck Hoe, who spoke about the importance of mutual understanding and tolerance in a relationship, and local TV personality Baki Zainal, who spoke about Malay culture.

About 100 young adults took part in the forum at Wisma MCA which engaged them in discussions about social issues and trends that affected their lives directly including economic and financial matters.

Dr Wee, who shared thoughts about his marriage life with the audience, said quality time was vital in maintaining a happy family.

He urged the audience to be pragmatic and realistic in seeking life partners, adding that attitude and ability were the two most important qualities.

“It’s not realistic for everyone to have the five B’s. What they must have is the attitude and ability to become successful,” he said, adding that the forum was a new approach by MCA in finding out issues that mattered to young adults.

“This is our way of knowing what people want and letting young people express their thoughts. It’s not always about voting and politics,” he said to applause.

Forum participant Yvonne Son, 34, praised the session as it dealt with issues relevant to her generation including economic concerns.

“It’s good that the Government understands the people’s needs and meets them,” she said.

Of the three main races over here, Chinese girls are the most materialistic. Chinese women, especially if they have a fair amount of beauty, in the younger to middle age group of 18 to 35, middle to tertiary education and living in the cities, talk abo…
