Dato’ Ahmad Nordin Bin Md. Zain. (Translation by Syed Zulfilda S.M. Noor)
Dato’ Ahmad Nordin was born on 27th August, 1926 in Titi Gajah, Alor Setar.
He received his early education at the Jalan Bahau Malay School from 1932 until 1935 and subsequently at the Sungai Korok Malay School in 1935. He continued his studies at the Sultan Abdul Hamid College from 1935 until 1946. After completing his secondary education, he was offered to further his studies at the College of Distributive Trader, London from 1969 until 1970. Later, in 1980, he enrolled for his Masters degree at Boston University, USA and completed the programme in 1982.

- Secretary-General, Council for the Propagation of Islam for Southeast Asia and Pacific Basin (RISEAP) [RISEAP=Regional Islamic Council for South East Asia and Pacific] aqnd PERKIM (This is Malaysia country version meant for new Muslim converts: Chinese and Indians)
- Member, Supervisory Council for BERNAMA
- Member, Council of Trustees for Tunku Abdul Rahman Foundation
He has a keen interest in writing. Among the many working papers that he had
produced included his thesis for his Master’s degree, entitled “The Hearts and
Minds Battle Against Communist Insurrection in Malaysia, 1948-1960”, a number of
working papers and articles pertaining to public relations and communication for
seminars held in the country or abroad, several articles pertaining to
propagation of Islam in Malaysia and also articles pertaining to development
from the perspective of Islam that were being presented at international
seminars as well as for publication in various magazines.
In appreciation of his services and contributions, the government has
bestowed on him several awards which include, the D.D.M.K., the J.S.D., the
K.M.N., the B.C.K. and also honours and awards from countries such as West
Germany, Philippines and Thailand.
PERKIM, Muslim Welfare Organization Malaysia

He was also the DG of the PERKIM = Muslim Welfare Organization Malaysia = Pertubuhan Kebajkan Islam Malaysia.
The Chairman of PERKIM and RISEAP at that time was Tunku Abdul Rahman, Sarawak CH Taib Mahmood later took over and now the present Chairman is TDM.
