Present problem is not just the illegal immigration across the border but about the permanent settlements and claiming as their own village, place of birth and country. At last they are claiming as if they are Myanmar Race, Myanmar Ethnic Minority and are demanding for their Rights. After that there may be demand for the separate state and even up to seceding or demand for independent state.

Even the democracy movement in Myanmar is doing little to help the Muslim minority, Rohingya politicians say.

Democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi last week urged “all people in Burma to get along with each other regardless of their religion and authenticity.” But she has remained “tight-lipped” about the Rohingya, said Kyaw Min, a Rohingya leader and one-time Suu Kyi ally who spent more than seven years as a political prisoner. “It is politically risky for her,” he said.

NLD spokesman Nyan Win wouldn’t comment on Suu Kyi’s position, but said: “The Rohingya are not our citizens.” Suu Kyi is now on a European tour that will take her to Oslo, Norway, to accept the Nobel Peace Prize she won in 1991.

My respects and pity for this Racist old man is gone. May be he is OLD and SENILE. I wrongly thought that he is a well read and wise person.

The time was just few years after the nationalization of all the stores shops factories and business. I bought a bottle of vitamin syrup, Waterbury Compound, fro the Peoples drug store with my GP doctor’s prescription. Suddenly I suffered from stomach ache, vomiting and diarrhoea after the medication and I went and see my Dr Mazunda (he was our family doctor since we were young in Kalaw as he was working in Railways. He was an Indian national, worked few years as GP, his son was arrested for anti-Ne Win student demonstrations and he later went back to India. He checked me and the bottle. He found out that the medicine was expired and there were even black deposits at the bottom of the mixture.
I wrote a complaint letter to the editor of the only newspaper in Mandalay, Hantharwaddy. As my letter was not published up to one month later, I made a telephone call to the newspaper. All the lower ranking people refused to give explanation so at last I managed to get the Chief Editor Journalist U Win Tin. We talk on the phone. I was 6std standard student but U Win Tin had given STUPID answers only. When I asked him why his paper failed to publish my complaint he told me that there is no much space and need to write more urgent matters. When I told him the numbers of letters about pot-holes, water shortage, road lamps…he replied that my letter could be a false claim. I told him that I wrote in my letter that I have kept the receipt and bottle and if he needs I could provide evidence. At last he told me that the case is sensitive. Then I asked him whether he follow the good practice of USSR where the editors inform the relevant authorities about the sensitive issues to rectify, he angrily said no.
Anyway I thanked him for his time to answer a student.

  1. drkokogyi Says:

May you explain me what is the SPECIAL Ethnic Minorities Rights?
Whether their recognized numbers are 135 or 101 or 102, I think there is NO special rights granted except for getting the NAMES only as some States eg Shan Kachin etc.
They don’t even get 1% reserved seats for each nationality when Military GRABBED 25%.
It would be better if all citizens have EQUAL RIGHTS irrespective of affiliation to military, race religion, creed, origin, gender, etc.
We should give some affirmative privileges to the poor, downtrodden, underprivileged, handicapped from the remote areas and some backward Ethnic Nationalities.

  2. drkokogyi Says:

See Daw Su’s view and Gov view are the same. We could accept that the people from Thai border are Ethnic Nationals but generally ALL citizens should be treated equally. IF Muslim Bengali status are QUESTIONED with suspect why NOT on Bengali Buddhists like Dr Aye Maung and ALL those entered from North Eastern border R not scrutinized? Gov and NLD are visibly practicing DOUBLE STANDARDS.
    WHAT A SHAME!
There is selective prosecution on Rohingya and Myanmar Muslims.
