“Do you think the government is behind the attacks on Muslims?”

One Foreign Reporter asked me, “Do you think the government is behind the attacks on Muslims?”

So I answered him like this….

I do not just think but I strongly believe that part of the military government is behind the attacks on Muslims. The rest of the government know this, some of them agree and those who disagree are scared to oppose the majority.

They have repeatedly use the racial riots to divert the attention of the people, whenever they have social, political or economic problems.

As you know Samuel Johnson had rightly said that, “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.” Successive dictators around the world throught the history had successfully exploited the people’s PATRIOTISM  to continue ruling the country and to overstay their legitimate reigns.

I still remember the words of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, “Well, there are people who think that it’s right to do any thing in the name of their religion, their race, their family, or any organization to which they may belong.”

So the government had effectively spread the Islamophobia through their agent provocateur 969 Campaigners, which is like effectively dosing petrol throughout the whole Myanmar.

Any spark of fire like the accident in Okkan, trapped or staged rape incidents, response to instigation or provoking like Thandwe parking dispute or Muslims’ fault like Lashio insane drug addict’s arson attack on Buddhist girl would definitely could act as triggers and could easily explode into the full blown racial riots.

And the government not only failed to prevent those atrocities, it is a norm now a days to declare 144 curfew, which is usually enforced on Muslims only but the Buddhist Terrorists are free to roam under the cloak of curfew, aided by security forces. Worse problem is Muslim houses are usually raided by security forces and their weapons of defense are confiscated. Once the security forces are tactically withdrawn, terrorists moved in to commit looting, assault and arson.

The above pattern is documented repeatedly. After that, perpetrator Buddhists and their masterminds are let off free and few grass-root looters only are arrested, most of them were free and very few only are punished with light sentence.

But the victim Muslims were used to be arrested with trumpeted charges and sentenced with un-proportionate long term punishment.

The Government media, online media, FB pages of the President’s spoke person, U Ye Htut and the Director of the President’s office, Hmuu Zaw (? Zaw Htay) always reported with bias and instigating news to fan the flame of Patriotism against alleged Muslim threat.
