Sweden offers residency to all Syrian refugees

Sweden offers residency to all Syrian refugees

Swedish migration authorities have ruled that all Syrian asylum seekers who have come to Sweden will be granted permanent residency in light of the worsening conflict in Syria.

Sweden is the first country in the EU to offer permanent residency to refugees from Syria, news agency TT reported.

The decision covers all asylum seekers from Syria who have been granted temporary residency in Sweden for humanitarian protection. They will now receive permanent residence permits, the Swedish Migration Board (Migrationsverket) announced on Tuesday.

Previously, around half of Syrian asylum seekers had been granted permanent residency, with the remaining half receiving three-year residence permits.

The assessment is based on whether a person has an individual or general need for protection. As the situation in Syria has deteriorated and is now “extreme and marked by general violence” with no solution in sight, the agency has judged the poor security situation in Syria to be permanent.

The decision means that the roughly 8,000 Syrians who have temporary residency in Sweden will now be able to stay in the country permanently.

They will also have the right to bring their families to Sweden.

While Malek Laesker, vice-chair of the Syrian Arabian Cultural Association of Sweden (Syrisk arabiska kulturföreningen i Sverige), welcomed the decision, he also warned it could create problems.

“The fact that Sweden is the first country to open its arms is both positive and negative,” he told the TT news agency, explaining that it may be a boon for the growing people-smuggling market.

He also expressed concerns that the move will add more fuel to the already inflamed debate about Sweden’s immigration policies.

“We already have a crisis around that issue in Sweden. I hope that our politicians solve it in a nice way,” he said.

In 2012 and 2013, a total of 14,700 Syrian asylum seekers came to Sweden. Together with Germany, Sweden is the EU country which has accepted the highest number of asylum seekers from the war-torn country.

In its statement, the Migration Board warned that asylum seekers who may be guilty of war crimes or crimes against humanity for their actions in Syria would lose their right to be classified as refugees or in need of protection.

Pope Francis urges faithful to help meet refugees’ needs

Rome, Italy, Sep 12, 2013 / 02:03 am (CNA/EWTN News).- Pope Francis called for solidarity with refugees during his Tuesday visit to a Jesuit refugee center in Rome, reminding Christians of their duty to help meet the newcomers’ needs.

He lamented how many times refugees have been “forced to live in impoverished conditions, at times degrading, without the possibility of beginning a dignified life, to think about a new future!”

The Pope voiced special concern for the refugee women, including “the mothers who endure these hardships in order to ensure a future for their children…and a different life for themselves and their families,” Vatican Radio reports.

He met with refugees and volunteers at Rome’s Church of the Gesù and visited about 1,000 people gathered at the nearby Astalli Center. The center is the Italian branch of the Jesuit Refugee Service, an international network that assists refugees and other forced migrants.

Pope Francis said the refugees have faced a “difficult and exhausting” journey. He noted that Rome is often the second stop for refugees after the southern Italian island of Lampedusa, which he visited in July.

The Pope said the Church, the city of Rome and other institutions must ensure that no one is in need of food, shelter, or legal assistance to “recognize his right to live and work and fully be a person.”

He called on religious orders with empty convents to act “generously” and “courageously” by opening these buildings to refugees. The Church, he said, does not need “empty convents to be transformed into hotels,” to “earn money.”

The defense of the dignity and rights of the underprivileged is an essential part of the Church’s mission, he added.

Pope Francis then reflected on the nature of service, which means “welcoming the person who arrives, with care” and “bending down to one in need and offering a hand, without reservations.”

He asked others to reflect on whether they have answered Jesus Christ’s call to serve the poor. “Do I look into the eyes of those who seek justice or do I turn away?” the Pope asked.

He then stressed the duty to accompany those in need, in a way that goes beyond simple charity like giving a sandwich to the poor man. Christians must act beyond this and help the man return to work and the life of society.

The Pope noted that differences of race, national origin and religion can be a “gift” and “a richness to welcome, not to fear.”

He thanked the volunteers and staff of the Astalli Center for recognizing the refugees “as people” and for working “to find concrete answers to their needs.”

The Astalli center in 2012 helped around 21,000 people in Rome through its Italian-language classes, its soup kitchen, its legal center and its health facility. The health facility can give special attention to victims of torture.

In his July visit to Lampedusa, Pope Francis rejected indifference towards refugees. He said Christians practice love “when we identify with the stranger, with those who are suffering, with all the innocent victims of violence and exploitation.”

Hijrah denied by Muslim countries

So, it is evident that Migration is a natural phenomena even practiced by Prophets and “gods” but all the Muslim countries from OIC, OPEC including Malaysia refused to legalize the Migration of downtrodden Muslims around the world, including Burmese Muslims and Rohingyas from Myanmar.

Most of the facts are taken from various pages and articles of Wikipedia and from the Quran.

Muharram (Arabic: محرم) is the first month of the Islamic calendar.

Muslims started to count their calendar from the day of Hijrah, when our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) migrated from Mecca to  to Madinah (approximately in July 622 A.D.).

Muharram is so called because it was unlawful to fight during this month; the word is derived from the word ‘haram’ meaning forbidden. It is held to be the most sacred of all the months, excluding Ramadan. It is also said that in this sacred month Allah created the universe and Adam was created as the first human who appeared in the universe and also Musa and Essa (Jesus Christ) were born.

To escape persecution our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and his followers migrated to Medina (then known as Yathrib) in the year 622.

In the Qur’an: Al-Baqara
Lo! those who believe, and those who emigrate (to escape the persecution) and strive in the way of Allah, these have hope of Allah’s mercy. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. (218)

in the Qur’an: An-Nisa
Lo! as for those whom the angels take (in death) while they wrong themselves,

Islam 101The angels will ask: In what were ye engaged?

They will say: We were oppressed in the land.

(The angels) will say: Was not Allah’s earth spacious that ye could have migrated therein? As for such, their habitation will be hell, an evil journey’s end; (97)

Except the feeble among men, and the women, and the children, who are unable to devise a plan and are not shown a way. (98)

As for such, it may be that Allah will pardon them. Allah is ever Clement, Forgiving. (99)

Who so migrate for the cause of Allah will find much refuge and abundance in the earth, and who so forsake his home, a fugitive unto Allah and His messenger, and death overtake him, his reward is then incumbent on Allah. Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful. (100)

And when ye go forth in the land, it is no sin for you to curtail (your) worship if ye fear that those who disbelieve may attack you. In truth the disbelievers are an open enemy to you. (101)

Adam (آدم) the first Prophet for Muslims and Eve were  expelled from the Garden of Eden, were ceremonially separated from God, and lost their immortality after they broke God’s law about not eating of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Adam would have died only about 127 years before the birth of Noah, nine generations after Adam.

Noah نوح  also avoid floods by migrating using Noah’s Ark.

Moses موسىٰ or Prophet Mūsa

After killing an Egyptian slave-master, Moses fled across the Red Sea to Midian. Moses led the Hebrew people out of Egypt, across the Red Sea, where they based themselves at Horeb and compassed the borders of Edom. It was at this time that Moses received the Ten Commandments. Despite living to the age of 120, Moses died before reaching the Land of Israel.

Jesus or عيسى‎, Prophet Isa

The flight into Egypt is a biblical event described in the Gospel of Matthew (2:13-23), in which Joseph fled to Egypt with his wife Mary and infant son Jesus after a visit by Magi because they learn that King Herod intends to kill the infants of that area. The family flees to Egypt and remains there.

Gautama Buddha

Siddhartha was born in Lumbini and raised in the small kingdom or principality of Kapilvastu, both of which are in modern day Nepal. His father was King Suddhodana, the leader of Shakya clan, whose capital was Kapilavastu, and who were later annexed by the growing Kingdom of Kosala during the Buddha’s lifetime. Siddhartha runaway from his palace,  leaving behind this royal life to become a mendicant. Siddhartha initially went to Rajagaha and began his ascetic life by begging for alms in the street. Siddhartha left Rajagaha and went around the forests to learn and practise under different hermit teachers. After becoming enlightened,  for the remaining 45 years of his life, the Buddha is said to have traveled in the Gangetic Plain, in what is now Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and southern Nepal, teaching his doctrine and discipline to an extremely diverse range of people— from nobles to outcaste street sweepers, mass murderers such as Angulimala and cannibals such as Alavaka.

So, it is evident that Migration is a natural phenomena even practised by Prophets and “gods” but all the Muslim countries from OIC, OPEC including Malaysia refused to legalize the Migration of downtrodden Muslims around the world, including Burmese Muslims and Rohingyas from Myanmar.
