Words of our great Muslim Worrior, Tariq ibn Ziyad, for my Myanmar Muslim brothers

August 22, 2013

Dear Myanmar Muslim brothers,

I hope you have already know about our great Muslim Worrior, Tariq ibn Ziyad…I wish to re-post his famous motivational speech here. (His action is same as Myanmar’s Bayint Naung’s destroying the rafts story.)

Tariq ibn Ziyad (Source: Wikipedia) (Arabic: طارق بن زياد‎, died 720) was a Muslim general who led the Islamic conquest of Visigothic Hispania in 711-718 A.D. He is considered to be one of the most important military commanders in Iberian history. Under the orders of the Umayyad Caliph Al-Walid I he led a large army from the north coast of Morocco, consolidating his troops at a large hill now known as Gibraltar. The name “Gibraltar” is the Spanish derivation of the Arabic name Jabal Tāriq (جبل طارق), meaning “mountain of Tariq”,[1] named after him.

At the age of seven yrs he studied together with young Bodaw Payah at the Royal Ava, Monastry (Sae Daw Phongyi Kyaung). Bodaw Paya appointed him as the head of a mission to India to retrieve books and scriptures. Actually he was sent as… the spy, disguising as the persons searching for the books and scriptures. He also got the contact with few city state kings in India, some of them sent some presents and requested the Burmese Army’s help to fight back the British.U Nu was later sent again as a spy to India by Bagyidaw who succeeded Bodawpaya. King Bodawpaya (1782–1819), with the help of U Nu’s Bengal team’s information and maps managed to capture the western kingdom of Rakhine, which had been largely independent since the fall of Bagan, in 1784. Bodawpaya also managed to formally annex Manipur, a rebellion-prone protectorate, in 1813.

Introduction

Islam’, which literally means ‘peace’ in Arabic, has been transformed into a faith interpreted loosely by one group and understood conservatively by another, making it seem as if Islam itself is not well comprehended by its followers. Today, it is the faith of 1.2 billion people across the world; Asia is a home for 60 per cent of these adherents, with Muslims forming an absolute majority in 11 countries (Selth 2003:5).

Four Martyred or Shaheed Burmese Muslim Saints (in Burmese)

March 16, 2010

Shahid (Arabic: شَهيد ‎ šahīd, plural: شُهَداء šuhadā’, also romanized as shaheed) is an Arabic word meaning “witness”. It is a religious term in Islam, meaning “witness”, as stated, but most often “martyr.” It is used as a title for Muslims who have died fulfilling a religious commandment, or waging war for Islam. (Wikipedia)

The shahid is considered one whose place in Paradise is promised according to these verses in the Qur’an:

A woman is considered “shaheeda” (شهيدة) if she died during fulfillment of a religious commandment, but there is an argument among the Muslim sages as to whether a woman can participate in a war for religion. (Citation needed) There are examples of women fighting in war such as Nusaybah.
