Interview with UN special rapporteur on human rights in Myanmar
BUENOS AIRES, 24 October 2013 (IRIN) – Myanmar’s government has signed individual ceasefire agreements with 14 main non-state armed groups since 2011, and is pressing ahead with plans for a national ceasefire agreement, originally scheduled for the end of October, but now delayed. The most recent round of negotiations with northern Myanmar’s Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) brought further hope of nationwide reconciliation.

The Myitkyina District Administrative Council, Kachin State, sent the following official letter to the local Ward Administrative Councils.
According to the decision at the meeting held by Muslims at the Tachanpae Masjid in Yangon:
- Students from the Muslim Orphanage Schools must rape Myanmar Buddhist girls to create problems during the months of September and October 2013.
- Once any problems started, to burn (Muslim) own houses and houses of others.
- To take as much photographs as possible.
- To send those evidences abroad to foreign countries to discredit Myanmar as there is a widespread (Buddhist) terrorist activity in the country.

Tay Za funds Kachin mountain expedition as IDP suffer nearby

A group of American and Burmese climbers reached the summit of Kachin state‘s Gamlang Razi on Sept. 7 with the financial backing of crony Tay Zaw (photo facebook).
A mountaineering expedition in northern Kachin state, financed by Burmese billionaire Tay Za’s Htoo foundation, successfully reached the summit of Burma’s second highest mountain earlier this month. The team which included five Americans and a Burmese became the first ever climbers to reach Gamlang Razi summit on September 7, according to press reports.

President Thein Sein on Tuesday, February 26, met Norway’s prime minister as he kicked off a 10-day visit to Europe aimed at forging stronger ties between Burma and the West. He will be visiting Finland, Austria, Belgium and Italy before returning home on March 8.

“The first point that should be made is that there has been no
ceasefire and there is no ceasefire.. On the morning of Saturday the
19 of January at 6.00 a.m., the time the ceasefire was due to commence according to President Thein Sein‘s order, I stepped outside my house to be soon greeted with the sound of mortar and artillery fire.This was not sporadic small arms fire, but systematic heavy shelling from the Burma army.It was replicated elsewhere in Kachin State, but only a small fraction of it has been captured and transmitted by the media.I would therefore like to express grave concern at much of the international community’s gullible acceptance of the “ceasefire” which was either a deliberate grotesque hoax, or the result of a systemic failure in the Burma army chain of command to implement President
