Clever Daw Suu hitting the pride of Kaisu Singaporeans
Upon being briefed that Singapore’s education system was “workforce-oriented”, Suu Kyi, 68, said: “That made me think, what is work all about? What are human beings for? What are human lives about?”
Her departing words shook Singaporeans who had been led to believe in the superiority of the Singaporean development model for less developed countries.
“I think we have much to offer you, come and find out,” Suu Kyi said.
“Perhaps Singapore could learn from us on how to have a more relaxed way of life.”

Source: Mr Lee refutes US cable leaked by WikiLeaks, my paper Tuesday, Sep 06, 2011
Former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew yesterday refuted a leaked United States Embassy cable which reported that he had described Islam as a “venomous religion”.
In a statement issued by his press secretary, Ms Yeong Yoon Ying, he said: “This is false.”
Mr Lee said that nowhere in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes “does it record me describing Islam as ‘venomous’, nor did I say anything which could have given that impression”.

NOTE: WE CANNOT COMPROMISE ON ISLAM.
Some Chinese leaders has no problem that his daughter converted to Christian and even if his grandchild were a gay. For the Buddhists and Hindus, I had seen and read in the newspapers, no problem if Chinese Dieties and Hindu R brought in and put together with their gods’ statues or Buddha’s statue.
Buddhist & Hindus who R vegetarians or just avoids meat would not mind sitting together with their friends eating meat. They could marry and stay together with the spouses from different religion…etc. But MOST although not all the Muslims try to avoid those kind of situation as they know that Islam do not allow. May be they sometimes could not avoid other sins but…NOTE that there is some religious edits in Myanmar that gambling or lotery under the NON-ISLAMIC government is permissionable!

Although migrated and settled into the heart of Muslims, Lee Kuan Yew is ignorant about Hearts and Minds of Muslims
Source_Star letter,”LKY’s concerns about Islam unjustified“, by IMRAN PRICE
MINISTER Mentor Lee Kuan Yew has urged Singapore Muslims to “be less strict on Islamic observances” (The Star, Jan 24) to aid integration and the city-state’s nation-building process in a new book, Lee Kuan Yew: Hard Truths to Keep Singapore Going.
It is also reported that he believes that Muslims “are distinct and separate”, unlike the other races and religions in Singapore.

Source_Star: Singapore spirit blows hot and cold. Insight Down South By SEAH CHIANG NEE
If Singaporeans fear they will one day be overwhelmed by migrants in their own land, the statement from a minister that Singapore is not a country, leaves them even more uncertain.
IN THE midst of a historical demographic change, Singapore’s hard-headed government seems less inclined nowadays to talk about national identity than it once was.

Wikileaks Says Burma Passes Asean News to Beijing By BA KAUNG
Burma, along with Laos and Cambodia, might be working for Beijing as spies within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), according to a US cable leak attributed to Singapore’s Minister Mentor, Lee Kuan Yew.
“Within hours, everything that is discussed in Asean meetings is known in Beijing, given China’s close ties with Laos, Cambodia, and Burma,” a secret cable stated, quoting Lee Kuan Yew in a conversation with US Deputy Secretary of State James B. Steinberg on May 30, 2009.
