Anyone arriving today at Mingaladon Airport and driving toward the center of Yangon would find it hard to imagine that just a few years ago Myanmar was an isolated country – poor, underdeveloped and labeled by the US as an “outpost of tyranny.”
At the start of the 21st century there were few cars on the roads. Taxis at that time used to be over a decade old, often with sagging seats and doors that did not shut properly. As things started to change around 2005, there were more cars and the first few mobile phones had made an appearance.

On Sept 17, 2013, the Clean Department of Mandalay Municipal Committee officially sent an order letter to Lin Zin Gone Muslim Cemetery Administrative Committee to remove the cemetery by their own arrangement not later than Oct 17. Hence, for information about the matter, M-Media contacted U Khin Maung Soe, a member of the cemetery administrative committee, for an interview.

From Farhanah Azmi. YANGON (Myanmar), Sept 28 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Embassy in Myanmar will issue a travel advisory for Malaysians visiting Myanmar for the 27th SEA Games which will be held from Dec 11-22.
Ambassador Dr Ahmad Faisal Muhamad said advisory was necessary as:
- Myanmar was not a tourist-friendly nation
- “They must carry United States dollars
- The notes must in good condition
- “Security will be boosted…Visitors must comply with all laws and respect the culture of the country
- “Visitors must also only head for venues for the SEA Games

1. Mandalay Division PM U Ye Myint and his trusted servant U Thein Han (Shwe Pyi Thar Gold Mining Company) have confiscated the land with gold deposits in Thabeik Kyin and Pyin Oo Lwin Township.
2. Now a days, the people from the Wet Thae village and Thet Shae villages in Thabeik Kyin Township are so angry with the extreme oppressions of that company, have heated arguments and have appealed and complained to the various authorities but there is no investigation or any action at all.

This week, religious violence has once again flared in Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. Hundreds of Muslim homes have been burnt to the ground in Sagaing region after being attacked by Buddhist mobs.
In just over a year more than 200 people, mostly Muslims, have been killed and many more displaced as unrest has spread from Rakhine state in the west to towns across the country.
