Myanmar’s religious malaise goes online

Myanmar’s infant information culture is helping to spread high-risk Islamophobia, reports Gerard McCarthy
19 December 2013

A FEW weeks ago, I stumbled into a protest on the streets of Yangon, the cultural capital of Myanmar. The march itself was a relatively tame affair, with around 500 people braving the afternoon heat to walk to downtown Sule Pagoda. Despite the calm mood, though, the protest provided a telling glimpse of how an exclusivist anti-Muslim nationalism is mushrooming across Myanmar.

LawWe don’t really need a new law, if the present Laws are applied FAIRLY and Justice, we could put ALL the 969 leaders into jail. Even the President Thein Sein, Military and Police Chiefs could be charged for negligence of their duties to protect Muslims and properties. Even the Judges could land in jail for unfair one-sided Judgement against Muslims.

MAPIM16 th November 2013

OIC MEMBER STATES SHOULD RECALL ALL MYANMAR EMBASSIES

We are outraged and we register our strong condemnation against the denigration of Islam by monks in major cities of Myanmar under the pretext of resenting the visit of OIC foreign ministers to Myanmar a few days ago.

Equating Islam to an animal ideology is not only insulting but is also tantamount to declaring war on Islam.

We see this deep hatred towards Muslims and Islam is intentionally orchestrated by officials of the Myanmar government themselves.

We despise the attitude and acts of the Monks carrying banners insulting Islam, associating Islam as a religion of animals.

OIC Urges UN Action on Burma Muslims

JEDDAH – Appealing for UN intervention to stop attacks on Muslims in Burma, a world Muslim body has urged the Burmese government to allow in a ministerial delegation to discuss anti-Muslim violence in the Buddhist country.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation calls on “Burmese authorities to strongly respond to the organization’s appeal and allow a ministerial OIC delegation to visit” Burma, the OIC said in a statement cited by Agence France-Presse (AFP).

More than 43 people were killed and several mosques burnt in a week of sectarian violence in the central city of Meiktila earlier this month.

Ye Htut, please note that your government’s role model Hitler had no right to Massacre their citizen Jews inside their own country

April 19, 2013
Ye Htun! Your Buddhists are insulting Allah, our Prophet (pbuh), Qur’an, Mecca, Islamic countries, OIC and Cyber-attacked Web sites of Muslim Countries. This is not INTERNAL AFFAIRS. You all have NO right to even do Genocide of your Muslim citizens in your own country like Hitler had no right to Massacre their citizen Jews inside their own country.
Burma’s government has rejected calls for an international inquiry into recent waves of anti-Muslim violence, following media reports that the world’s top Islamic body would request to send a delegation to the country to discuss the unrest.

“In my opinion, recent conflicts inside the country are [Burma’s] internal affairs,” government spokesman Ye Htut told The Irrawaddy on Thursday, adding that the government had not yet received a formal request for access from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Ye Htut, who is also Burma’s deputy minister of information, said the government had taken good care to handle religious tension and violence against Muslims in the Buddhist-majority nation.
