Monk politics a potential risk for Myanmar

In this Buddhist country, monks enjoy a high social status. But their sense of xenophobia is also strong, especially in face of the Muslims which account for less than 10 percent of the total population.

Myanmar has witnessed several instances of bloodshed in recent years. The conflict between monks and the Islamist Rohingya people in Rakhine State last year caused hundreds of deaths and left tens of thousands of Rohingya people homeless.

This March, Myanmar’s central city Meiktila also saw a violent confrontation between monks and Muslims. Raging monks set fire to five mosques and several Islamist communities.

Do the Myanmar Government dare to declare that mixed blooded Muslims are not citizens or could not give its Muslim citizens EQUAL RIGHTS?

We all NEED to ask Myanmar government one fact only whether they could give EQUAL RIGHTS to ALL the citizens.

EU Must Highlight Ongoing Human Rights Abuses in UNGA Burma Resolution

Members of the European Burma Network welcome the decision of the European Union to continue with the annual United Nations General Assembly resolution on Burma.

We are concerned that despite the fact that the government of Burma has not met a single one of the twenty main demands made in last year’s resolution, the European Union had seriously considered discontinuing the resolution. We are also concerned that it was the possibility of the Organisation of Islamic Conference drafting a resolution if the European Union did not, and a demarche by the USA, which appeared to be key deciding factors in continuing the resolution, rather than serious ongoing human rights abuses which violate international law, and the fact that Burma has failed to comply with the previous 22 resolutions.

Myanmar Minister U Aung Min WANTS the MONEY from Mr. George Soros‘ Fund which is said to be controlled by ABSDF Dr. Naing Aung’s alleged secret girl-friend (rather old lady).

That is said to be meant for the development projects for Kachin, after peace agreement with Kachin rebels and ABSDF…

Myanmar Government inciting HATRED on Muslims in Kachin State to create a Christian-Islam conflict

The Myitkyina District Administrative Council, Kachin State, sent the following official letter to the local Ward Administrative Councils.

According to the decision at the meeting held by Muslims at the Tachanpae Masjid in Yangon:

1. Students from the Muslim Orphanage Schools must rape Myanmar Buddhist girls to create problems during the months of September and October 2013.
2. Once any problems started, to burn (Muslim) own houses and houses of others.
3. To take as much photographs as possible.
4. To send those evidences abroad to foreign countries to discredit Myanmar as there is a widespread (Buddhist) terrorist activity in the country.

Dear Sirs/Madam,

Today my brother-in-law and sister-in-law went to Myanmar Embassy in Kuala Lumpur for their Passport renewals.

After accepting the application forms, paid the renewal fees, when they went back to collect their Passports, they were asked about the relations with me, Dr. Ko Ko Gyi. When they replied the truth, their application forms were returned and fees they paid were refunded and told that as they were related to me, there is an order from Naypyidaw to band all the services including Passport renewals for all of my relatives.

This is a very clear violation of Human Rights as that couple never do or write or say anything against the Myanmar Government. They do not even have Face Book or Blog or Twitter accounts.

By the way, my FB account was locked because of Myanmar Government officials and its Cyber-troopers’ false reports.

I cannot understand when the criminal mass-murderers ABSDF – N officials could be even allowed to enter Myanmar, may be they were moles planted by former Myanmar Military Intelligence Force to penetrate and destroy the Student Rebels.

Although not fair, we could understand that even if they revoke my Passport but it is a clear case of Human Rights Violation if they take action on my family or my far relatives like in-laws who have done nothing against Myanmar Government.

The Burmese government has exhibited an “unacceptable measure of support” for a systematic campaign of violence against the country’s Muslim minority, which could lead to genocide if left unchecked, a new report warned on Tuesday.

The study by the New York-based Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) documents “consistent” patterns of abuses against Burmese Muslims, including widespread Islamophobia and hate speech fuelled by government acquiescence and a culture of legal impunity, which could lead to mass atrocities.
