We could learn more as a House Officer than as a Medical Student

It is better to increase the Houseman period to TWO years. When compare to just listening the lectures and reading alone, practical training and SUPERVISED practice would definitely equipt the Myanmar young doctors with useful skills. Dear HE PTK please think about this option. Med Students need not spend parents’ money for another 1 yr. They do not need to wait another yr to become a dr. And could earn salary and experience.

Bullying in the medical profession is common, particularly of student or trainee doctors. It is thought that this is at least in part an outcome of conservative traditional hierarchical structures and teaching methods in the medical profession which may result in a bullying cycle.

According to Field, bullies are attracted to the caring professions, such as medicine, by the opportunities to exercise power over vulnerable clients and over vulnerable employees.

IQ, EQ, examan results and candidates’ reactions

Passing all the fields of Medical Examinations depends on:
The student’s IQ & EQ. IQ is OK but sub standard EQ of some is the problem.

[More than 99% of students’ IQs are up to the standard but most of the students are distracted by drugs, liquor, gambling, women and others, may be called inadequate EQ or Emotional intelligence. (a self-perceived ability to identify, assess, and control the emotions of oneself)]

I have read Zawana’s “Kaw Leik Kyaung Thar” (College Student),  “Kaw Leik Gin” (Collegian = a member of a college but Jin in Burmese is a  “Top” or a spinning toy or a clever person) and  “Kaw Leik Jaboo” ( A person like a bed bug or flea in the College) during my teenage at the high school. Since then I used to like and long for  the University life like the charecters in RASU. In our Mdy Med U (IMM), our student life was boring and scarry like a Primary school student who has to scare a very very bad teacher and Head Master/mistress. No enjoyment, no excitement, no pleasure at all, so I continue to miss the RASU student life of the characters in those books….

Every week, we used to have exams. In every lecture, lecturers would ask questions about previous day lecturers, in every practicals we would be asked about the just finished lectures. We all were scolded incessantly every day.

At the ward rounds Consultants would ask about any disease, wherether we had learned or not. They will shout infront of the students, drs and patients even if our answers were correct but if not in proper order or according to the incidences in our country. So our heart were always heavy, depressed, scared all the time.
