Xenophobia

Naing Tun Win wrote on his FB:

Your car is German. Your pizza is Italian. Your falafel is Lebanese. Your democracy is Greek. Your coffee is Brazilian. Your movies are American. Your tea is Tamil. Your shirt is Indian. Your oil is Saudi Arabian. Your electronics are Chinese. Your numbers Arabic, your letters Latin. And you complain that your neighbor is an immigrant?

Ko Ko Gyi ‎@ Naing Tun Win,
excellent. I like this. Xenophobia is defined as the “hatred or fear of foreigners or strangers or of their politics or culture”.

It comes from the Greek words ξένος (xenos), meaning “stranger,” “foreigner” and φόβος (phob…os), meaning “fear.”
Xenophobia can manifest itself in many ways involving the relations
and perceptions of an ingroup towards an outgroup, including a fear of losing identity, suspicion of its activities, aggression, and desire to eliminate its presence to secure a presumed purity. Xenophobia can also be exhibited in the form of an “uncritical exaltation of another culture” in which a culture is ascribed “an unreal, stereotyped and exotic quality”.
