Since General Ne Win’s time, successive Myanmar Military Governments rejected the Myanmar Muslims’ enlistment as Myanmar People who practiced the Islam concept, started by U Razak. The authorities wrongly claimed that all Myanmar (may be they confused with Bama) are Buddhists, there were no Bama Muslims (Myanmar Muslims) and the person concerned must be a migrant from India subcontinent. (They wrongly mixed up because Buddhism and Hinduism originated from there but ignorant that origin of Islam is Arabia.)
They use the religion of the person to decide for the political and social position in the country. If Burmese Chinese Ne Win, San Yu, Khin Nyunt and Burmese Indians Sein Win, Mg Di, were Muslims they would be chopped off from the political hierarchy.
Just imagine that if the ROHINGYAS were Buddhists, they would never suffer these rejection by the successive military governments, Bamas and Rakhines.
Just because we are Muslims, Burmese Muslims were denied our political and other rights. Since Ne Win’s era, millions of Muslims of Burma or Myanmar have been victims of discrimination, preferences and exclusions in view of their race, skin color, religion, national or ethnic origin and form of expression, causing extreme suffering and even loss of lives and properties.
So we, Muslims in Myanmar have the RIGHTS to use our religion to POLITICALLY FIGHT for getting back all our rights. After all, Islamophobia is used in Myanmar and Internationally. We have the right to mix Politics and religion to promote for the TRUE SECULAR UNION OF MYANMAR where there are equal rights for all.

I think it is a bit controversy for your last paragraph. You are right in some sense and you are in hot potato in other sense. I wish I can discuss with you. If you don’t mind I want to talk to you at my skpe (aungtin.canada1) or at gtalk (uaungtinnld@gmail.com)

If we use religion as a tool, others will do the same. Then it will ursher the nasty religious conflict which is too bloody. The best for us is seperation of state and religion (though there is no complete seperation anywhere) and fight for universal human rights together with the people of other religions. At the same time we will encourage and practice religious and race harmoany in our society. It also means inclusion in the society as an integral part. For Bur. Mus., inclusion is very essential if we look back.

Salam Dr. after i read many of your article then realize about our Muslim of Burma political participation and current situation reflect with past. I am really proud about which today Muslim are wealth and advance in many field but too sad about political participation.
I think if we can start from now also not too late. Today in Burma parliament there are more than 1200 MPs but only 4-Muslims MP are there. If we compared past history of Burma our leader are too advance. Today Muslim are advance in many field but political participation is too low mark. How we should continue to do the way clear, better we should start now?
In Malaysia there are around 300 to 500 highly professional from Burma Muslim are working in various field. If i am not mistaken, about 100 doctors are working in many part of Malaysia. If we can write new History of Burma the earliest Muslim leader are real Hero of our history. Which they fight for our right and we lose our right to maintain. It is too early to say we are loser but we should fight for our right until we get something. We are in Myanmar, all right of basic Liberty are totally lost. Our brother-hood should start to unite among us and to get for something. Insha Allah we should definitely get for our basic right.
